The E-Reader And Tablet Pc War: Who Wins?
When Amazon launched- Kindle its electronic reader device about November 19 2007 it was hailed as a revolutionary device and soon garnered massive amount of sales. Soon after that other competing brands like Samsung’s (Papyrus), Sony’s (Reader), Fujitsu’s (Flepia), and Irex Technology’s (Digital Reader 1000) have since followed and have been competing for market share
However, Apple Inc has since raised the stakes with the launch of the Ipad on January, 27th 2010.The Ipad has been touted to be a potential killer of the Amazon Kindle because of its enhanced features especially the multi -touch screen .Apple Ipad has already received pre-orders of 19,000 units and the company has plans to ship about 5 million Ipads in the first half of 2010.
The Apple Ipad, went on sale today April 3rd ,2010 and has internet features and the 3G platform is provided by AT&T, the 3G version has a price range of between $629-$829. Reports say that for now, Apple is selling IPads that can only connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi. Those models start at $499. Models that also have a cellular data connection will be on sale by the end of the April. The price will be $130 more, with the most expensive at $829.
Interestingly, Microsoft has unveiled it own version of the tablet PC-The courier (a smart book) and it would support Flash a feature which the Apple Ipad does not currently have. However, the Apple Ipad killer may be a German company- Neofonie whose CEO Ankershoffen announced that their Tablet PC brand -Wepad will appear in German Stores before the Apple Ipad. The CEO of Neofonie claims that Wepad has a larger multitouch screen and a quicker CPU than the iPad.
Also Neofonie CEO stressed that Wepad has a USB port features, an internal card reader and enhanced memory some of which Apple Ipad does not have. He added that the Wepad has an inbuilt webcam and multitasking features and is cheaper that the Apple Ipad. So will the Neofonie We-pad defeat Apple Ipad in the Tablet PC war?

Apple's dominance in the Tablet PC arena.However,no matter what happens Apple will continue to be one of the leaders in the field.
